The Senior Field Service Project Manager will provide full project ownership from ITO to OTR including the safe execution of complex projects and activities involving BWR 2-6 reactor disassembly, reassembly and in vessel maintenance & troubleshooting.

You will be responsible for the planning, scheduling, staffing, and safe execution of Outage Service’s projects at global Customer sites. This will include project management, commercial execution, task leadership, technical direction, work control and supervision, and human performance.

Job Description

As the Senior Field Service Project Manager, you will:

  • Support the development of commercial proposals by providing project estimates on labor quantity, labor hours, tooling, and logistics.
  • Provide project delivery planning leadership and rigor.  Transition planning, risk identification, risk mitigation, and contingency planning.
  • Be responsible for leading and coaching multi-disciplined and multi-cultural teams composed of GE and contingent worker personnel, including craft labor.
  • Establish trusting relationships and interact effectively with senior level customer and supplier management on commercial, execution, technical, and compliance issues.
  • Support Product Line activities including proposal development, product development, growth initiatives, and training development & implementation.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on the operation of reactor maintenance and in vessel tooling and GEH OEM equipment.
  • Exemplify our GE Beliefs and demonstrate integrity, nuclear safety, and quality culture.
  • Provide leadership to ensure high quality deliverables are produced in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures, and regulatory guidelines
  • Drive standard GEH (GE Hitachi) processes across projects and ensure procedural compliance.
  • Perform other assignments as business needs dictate.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline and 5 years’ experience in BWR nuclear outage management / maintenance,
  • OR a High School Diploma with a minimum of 8 years of experience in Nuclear Outage Services core functions.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in Project Management / Supervision for BWR nuclear refueling outages.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 70% of the time to domestic and international customer sites. (this position is remote eligible due to travel requirements)
  • Ability and willingness to pass Fitness for Duty requirements and site security requirements to obtain and maintain unescorted access and US and International Nuclear Plant Sites.
  • Ability and willingness to work in radiation-controlled areas and radioactively contaminated areas.
  • Ability and willingness to work 12 hours a day, 7 days per week when delivering field projects.

Desired Characteristics

  • Commercial Experience / Proposal Development and Cost Estimating
  • Extensive Knowledge of BWR nuclear power plant refueling, maintenance, inspection and modifications.
  • Knowledge of BWR vessels and components, Nuclear Steam Safety System (NSSS) and Containment Buildings.
  • Knowledge of PWR nuclear power plant refueling, maintenance, inspection and modifications.
  • Excellent computer skills, and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite software as well as enterprise systems such as P6, PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and Oracle ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)
  • Open communication style and proven ability to develop team relationships, including vendors and global teams
  • Ability to manage effectively through high stress conditions
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

The Project Management Specialist support the respective Project Director in planning and executing contracts for the design and construction of new nuclear power plants, including managing the quality, cost, and schedule of the execution process. Additional focus will be made toward project administration and configuration management of project documentation to assist the Project Director.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for on-time project delivery, profit & loss accountability, and customer satisfaction through management of project related activities and resources
  • Assist Project Director in organizing project cost structure in Oracle ERP
  • Participate in customer, internal, and/or supplier project kickoff meetings and support the Project Director with preparation & coordination of customer, internal, and/or supplier kickoff meetings
  • Develop and maintain a project roster including assigning and monitoring timely completion of project related training activities
  • Support the development & issuance of the Project Management Plan & related project plans and project procedures; promotes the implementation of project plans and project procedures across the larger project team
  • Support the development and deployment of project infrastructure and project tools
  • Ensure compliance with U. S. government requirements as applicable
  • Support coordination of project activities; monitor and control progress on project deliverables

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience working on projects
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, particularly when related to project execution

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or STEM
  • Fundamental-level financial or accounting knowledge
  • Experience or familiarity with Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) or Sodium Fast Reactor (SFR) designs
  • Knowledge of the power industry, customer, and competitive environment

Job Description

The Lead Systems Engineer will be a key member of the Fleet Systems Engineering team and be responsible for interfacing with multiple Engineering disciplines, Business Managers, Project Managers, and customers. In this role you will be accountable for meeting functional, business, and broad company objectives in support of customers with operating BWR plants. The Lead Systems Engineer will be challenged with complex technical issues in a dynamic project environment. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct calculations, design analyses, evaluations, and verifications for various BWR safety and non-safety system functions.
  • Apply engineering knowledge and practical experience to the analysis, investigation, and solution of complex design problems and application issues.
  • Develop drawings and specifications to assure products can reliably meet all engineering and quality requirements.
  • Professionally respond to customer information requests, emergent plant issues, and audits.
  • Work proactively with existing BWR product line and quality personnel through process procedure approvals, process qualification approvals, and non-conforming material disposition.
  • Review proposals and evaluate orders with emphasis on knowledge of BWR system design bases, operations, and maintenance.
  • Support initiatives for new or improved plant components and system-level analyses.
  • Support GEH quality requirements defined in policies and procedures.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related area from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with Nuclear Plant Safety Systems and Components.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with multi-disciplined Engineering or Operations teams on BWR Nuclear Power Plant Systems.

Eligibility Requirements

  • The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters Wilmington, NC but qualified remote candidates will be considered.
  • Less than 10% travel is required; however, if remote then selected candidate must be comfortable to travel to Wilmington, NC on a quarterly basis.
